My San Diego Weekend

All you need is Love

Hello!

Happy new month!  My week was great. I got a free burrito at Chipotle, went sight seeing in Culver City, went to Terrenea Cove, had tea in a shop called Destroyer and mixed my own lip gloss in Smashbox store, Venice. My weekend was even better- I went to San Diego. San Diego has lovely weather, nice beaches and many activities for one to get involved in while they are there.

On Saturday morning, I went to Balboa park with my cousin. If you are ever in San Diego, Balboa park is a must because it has numerous things to see. It’s a cultural park with at least 6 museums (some of which are free entry), an observatory, gardens, The San Diego Zoo, gift shops, International houses of various countries, among others.

So first of all, I went to the museum of man. The building itself is beautiful. So many intricate moldings and detailing on the exterior. It even has a tower. I saw so many things, and learnt about the various ancient people and their beliefs. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the entry passes were stamped on our wrists, so you had a purple M in ink on your arm. This is majorly because I am not a fan of writing on my skin at all.

After that, I went to the observatory,  the Balboa Theatre, saw an Alcazar garden, went to the gift shop to buy a magnet and strolled round the park.

In the evening I went to Mission Bay for a barbecue. Mission Bay is located beside SeaWorld San Diego. I learnt how to play volleyball, ate A LOT of food (mostly meat), threw bean bags in a hole and had a bonfire.

On Sunday I went for lunch at Duke’s La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya), a restaurant with Hawaiian influences. The restaurant is located near the beach, and so it has a breathtaking view. It also has wonderful service and good food. I had fish and chips (I know, very unadventurous). But I also tried the Hula cake, the ginger lime fizz mocktail and the flourless chocolate cake, which were all divine. Oh, and I had fried calamari (squid).

Then I went to La Jolla Cove, a small beach with numerous cliffs and coves and I saw sealions, seagulls and pelicans. I didn’t go close to the water because I didn’t want to remove my shoes, but the beach is beautiful and so is the water. You can also go swimming, kayaking and snorkeling in La Jolla. I came back to L.A later that evening.

Aloha!

I’m learning to try new things on this trip, so I had a lot of firsts. I heard on one of Superwoman’s vlogs that “Leave comfort for clothes”, so that is my motto for this holiday. Till next time, have an awesome day!
